Countering High-Level AFK Farmers During Event Loot Hunts

by apx629126 May 20261 min readOriginal thread on Discord

Explains a tactic for lower-level players competing for event drops in crowded low-level maps: scatter cheap disposable items (arrows, junk gear) around spawn points so AFK/Auto-Hunt setups waste their auto-PICK on the trash first. The delay gives an active player time to grab the real event loot. Includes a disclaimer that the method may be seen as underhanded and is subject to moderator review.

One common issue raised by new or lower-level players during farming-based events is that even when the required event loot drops in low-level areas, high-level players often crowd those zones. In many cases, they dominate spawn points, unintentionally or intentionally preventing newer players from collecting the required items.

This guide presents a simple technique that may help active players compete against AFK farmers using KP or Auto-Hunt systems.

  1. Prepare low-value items. Bring or collect disposable loot such as basic equipment, arrows, monster drops, or other unwanted items.

  2. Drop these items near known spawn points. Place the trash loot around areas where event mobs commonly appear.

  3. Use item priority mechanics to your advantage. Many AFK farming setups rely on the automatic PICK command after killing mobs. When trash loot is placed between the player and the target drop, the auto-pick system may prioritize the nearest dropped item first. This can delay the high-level player’s farming cycle by a few seconds.

  4. Use the delay to collect the event loot. That short delay may give you enough time to pick up the desired event item before the AFK farmer does, or it may cause their Auto-Hunt/KP system to move on to another target.

  5. Stay active and adjust your positioning. This technique works best when you are actively playing, observing spawn points, and reacting faster than automated or semi-automated players.

In short, this method uses active play against passive automation. It is not about overpowering high-level players directly, but about disrupting the predictable behavior of AFK farming systems.

Disclaimer

This tactic may be considered underhanded by some players. I do not believe it directly violates any game rules, but if this guide conflicts with the game’s Terms of Service, community rules, or fair-play policies, moderators may correct or remove it accordingly. Cheers & Happy Hunting

Thanks. This method should work, since I already tested it in the Bulpa shell farming area.

It changes the gameplay completely. The usual approach is to compete through speed, DPS, stronger items, better stats, and better gear. This gives lower-level players another option. Instead of overnight AFK farming, I was able to finish a bundle of shells in around two hours through active play, timing, and strategy.

Honestly, it feels rewarding when you see an auto-hunting high-level character lose efficiency and move around randomly instead of going straight to the monster drop. Hopefully, if more players use this approach, high-level farmers will eventually stop camping low-level maps and give newer players more room to farm.

    Cheers, and happy hunting.

I do this all the time. Dropping trash items (mostly arrows) on the hotspot areas like zaku gosu in jina 😂

Some farmers in MD2 are doing it as well, so I usually stop AH just drop the trash items. It’s kinda annoying, but it feels rewarding when everytime I loot a Tapas Karasna.
